The focal effects of IrisFilter replicate the qualities of cameras lenses thanks to its perfect emulation of films, CCDs and lenses. "Bokeh" - the art of focal manipulation! You may have seen software that blurs or softens the shape of images. Did you know the effects of most software do NOT realistically recreate the effects you see in the film photographs? If you would like to work with the beauty of real focal and depth of field effects in digital photography IrisFilter is the solution for you. Making art by changing focus? Photo-B represents a real focal manipulation effect created using IrisFilter. You see the stars and lights in the night sky twinkling. Photo-A is a picture that also beautifully takes advantage of focal length - it was taken on a Rolleiflex 2.8 optical camera without any retouching. You'll notice the similarities between Photo-A and Photo-B in the way they make beautiful use of light and focus. In Photo-C the colors of the sky have simply become smoky. This muddy effect is what Gaussian Blur provides to pictures. The Gaussian Blur filter was developed for drawings or graphic arts but is not suitable for photographs because it disregards the principles of optics. We are unfortunately unable to recreate the beauty of light with Gaussian Blur.
