If you have installed an old version you don't need to uninstall it before installing the new one. Categories, contacts' data and configuration will not be lost, but general configuration parameters will be reset to default values.To avoid this before installing a new version make a backup of general configuration parameters and restore them once you have installed the new version (Joomla backend: Components >> QContacts >> Tools).
