PAPI for MATLAB 1.0

This installation provides the basic elements of a PAPI installation, along with two extensions to MATLAB that allows you to get at some of thepower of the PAPI toolkit.The first MATLAB extension, flops, lets you count the number of floating point operations and the floating point execution rate in your MATLAB scripts. This can be useful in optimizing your code's performance, or comparing one algorithm to another.The second MATLAB extension, PAPI, lets you use the PAPI High Level Interface to access a broader range of PAPI events and functionality.This installation contains the following components: - The WinPMC kernel driver which provides access to the low levelperformance counters in hardware. This driver requiresadministrator privleges to install. - The WinPAPI DLL which uses the kernel driver, and to which theMATLAB extensions are linked. - A MATLAB support folder that contains the extensions mentionedabove, and several example scripts and documentation inMATLAB native and html formats.To use these tools, add the directory in which they are installed to theMATLAB default search path, or cd to that directory after opening MATLAB.Then type >> help flopsor >> help PAPIfor further information.Visit the PAPI website at:http://icl.cs.utk.edu/papi/for more information on the PAPI project.
