Id-deOaom a big fan of using sprites for navigation menus. While they dond-deOaot offer the flexibility of a solely HTML & CSS menu due to the fact that you have to create a new graphic every time you want to change a menu item; sprites do offer you infinite styling possibilities limited only by your creativity with graphics software. Appled-deOaos website is a well-known example of a sprite-driven nav menu, so Id-deOaoll use that as the inspiration and walk through how to create something similar.The purpose of this tutorial is to walk you through setting up a sprite-driven nav menu, and the HTML/CSS required to make it work. The fact that it mimics Appled-deOaos menu is just to give you an example of a well-known design and show you how to re-create it while learning how to use sprites. The emphasis isnd-deOaot on the style, which is why I dond-deOaot show the steps of creating the demo sprite, but rather the code behind it.There are three steps to this tutorial: Making the sprite, setting up the HTML and lastly, writing the CSS that makes it work.
