Mundi Mail was written to meet the needs of a Newsletter management system that had outgrown its original design. Most php based mass emailing programs are written as webpages that cycle through the database listing and send out one email at a time. After approaching 10,000 uers, there were issues of keeping a http request open to the server to continue the execution of the web page "program". Mundi Mail was written to spawn a process (massmail.php) that ran independent of the web page. To keep the end user informed, massmail.php sends database update calls at regular intervals. A simple status page displays these database entries. Mundi Mail's other features are still simple in design. There is a a simple subscribe and unsubscribe form and search through current subscribers page. The future design goals are to make the mailing more efficient and robust.
