SnakeSkin 1.0

SnakeSkin is a python application toolkit. The difference from a traditional framework, such as PHP, is the developer can customize the framework to the application. The goal of the project is to have a framework that scales down as well as up. SnakeSkin is based upon the existing Albatross project maintained by Object Craft. SnakeSkin, like Albatross, runs under several webservers, including CGI based, Apache, FastCGI, and it's own included webserver (mainly for development). In SnakeSkin, developers can customize the framework to the application, unlike in traditional frameworks, such as PHP. For example, adding custom tags to the templating system is quick and easy. The goal of the project is to have a framework that scales down as well as up--a "Zope-lite" framework. SnakeSkin can scale down to be useful in a simple form-to-email or just to apply a clean-cut design skin. The toolkit can just as easily scale up to handle complex content managment systems, B2B extranets, and full-fledged e-commerce engines.
