ProMan 1.0

ProMan stands for Project Management. It’s a Microsoft Access 2010 based application that helps the Project Manager, among many other tasks, track a project’s progress to its budget and generate forecasts and calculate percentage complete. It interfaces with various Microsoft Office 2010 applications like Word, Excel and Project.

The package assists the Project Manager to perform such tasks as estimating, scheduling, requirements management, risk management, defect and issue tracking, document control, status reporting, cost to complete tracking and monitoring status against the plan.

So what does ProMan do?

It allows you to record the project labour and expenses estimates.
It allows you to record project variations and generates and prints Change Control Forms.
It imports estimates from Ms Excel using the Estimating Workbook template provided in the package.
It manages Management Reserve and Margin.
It records actual labour spent on each task and calculates cost.
It calculates % complete of a task. It uses one of three methods:
Milestone based (spec’d, coded, tested, completed);
Actual / Estimate; or
Elapsed time.
It tracks forecasts to complete.
It tracks monthly labour and expenses charges.
It provides Project Status Reporting and overall forecasts.
It generates a project S-curve and other financial based graphs.
It performs Earn-Value calculations.
It prints timeline and earn-value reports.
It tracks project milestones.
It generates and prints a Project Tracking Status Report and the weekly Project Status Summary Report; templates are provided in the package.
It can print a “proforma” details report to compare with any official/formal proforma.
It interfaces with Ms Project to allow the user to:
Create a project schedule using the tasks and assignments estimated in ProMan;
Update a project schedule with revised project tasks details;
Obtain from the schedule planned and actual start dates; and
Update a project schedule with actual labour, remaining labour and milestone status.


It records and tracks Risks; it supports the requirements of a risk review workshop.
It records and tracks issues; these are then used when generating a status reports.
It records and tracks defects.
It generates a Risk Management Workbook; templates are provided in the package.
It generates a Issues and Actions Log; templates are provided in the package.
It generates a Defect Log.
It records customer requirements, allowing for the linking of related documents.
It records system design details related to the requirements, allowing for the linking of related documents.
It records technical design details, including component details, allowing for the linking of related documents.
It records unit, application, integration and acceptance test plan details.
It records component inventory details.
It records agreed acceptance criteria.
It tracks the need to perform quality checkpoints and completion of IGC checklists.
It generates “Requirements Traceability Matrix / Component Inventory Checklist”, “Test Plan” and “Acceptance Criteria”; templates are provided in the package.
It generates document identities and tracks details of documents.
It’s linked to the various other parts of the system where document ids are required for easy allocation of ids.
