This is one of the best audio players around, but I dont recomend it for most. It definitely has many flaws. it drinks ram, and most importantly, all files show up with a boring icon and with the file type as "winamp media file". What the hell, be it mp3, acc, ogg, midi or avi, all files have the same stupid filetype. This is worse than Window$ Media Player's labelling of mpeg & avi files (dunno what else) as "Video Clip" - horrible to the core. For the average user, I recomend you install the k-lite mega codec pack and use media player classic for everything, along with vlc media pplayer and mplayer with MPUI. I recomend that you select mplayer.exe as the opener for audio files, it is command line type, but with audio its no big deal, and it has awssome keyboard shortcuts and has all the clip information you will ever need about the file. I recomend associating .m4a(ACC Audio) files, .wma files, .mp3 files and .ogg files with it. Use MPUI for the rest. Vlc can also be used, it has mus=ch more features, but there are files that only mplayer can play and there are files that only VLC can. Media Player Classic is comparitively heavier on the ram, but all are pretty easy on the ram. MPC works for the rest of the files, and it can play anything infact, because you have installed K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. So overall, the main use of winamp is internet radio. its the only thing its worth for.
