bodek project is a mail notifier that stays in the system tray and shows a pop-up when new e-mail arrives (similar to KBiff and Korn). Currently bodek supports POP3 and IMAP4 protocols, with both secure and insecure logins. bodek handles non-conforming and badly configured mail servers better then most other programs of this kind.
