mpg123-thor is a version of mpg123 based on the official 0.59r with enhanced control interface (for DerMixD - or whoever likes it) and some existing patches merged together. mpg123-thor should be a suitable (better) replacement for standard mpg123 as long as you do not depend on the behaviour of the rudimentary control interface present in the latter (when you are not certain, you most certainly do... not depend).
