Devlabel is a program which dynamically creates symbolic links to disk/partition names. It uses the disks and/or partitions unique identifiers to keep the symlink pointed to the correct location even if the underlying partitions name has changed. So, regardless of whether /dev/sdb6 becomes /dev/sdc6, devlabel figures this all out and points the symlink to the correct data..
