The Harmony NAB (New American Bible) is a harmony of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John rearranged into one single timeline of the life of Jesus Christ. Where there are similar events from different books of the Gospels, they are displayed in side-by-side panels for ease of comparison and study. Each of these 275 events also include a descriptive heading and the year, or date if known, and location where the event is believed to have taken place.
You can also choose to read any of the four Gospels in their normal order of book-chapter-verse.
The Harmony NAB provides a number of supporting features, including:
* All scripture text, notes, and bible citations are from the New American Bible, revised edition, and licensed for this application by the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine. The New American Bible, Revised Edition is the culmination of nearly 20 years of work by a group of nearly 100 scholars and theologians, including bishops, revisers and editors.
* There are numerous rich footnotes and bible citations that can be displayed just above the relevant scripture text when note/citation flags are touched.
* Switch reading modes between PAGE (one page/event at a time) and LIST (a list of all pages/events for selective reading)
* Special Categories: A separate feature provides a grouping of events by five specific categories (i.e., Jesus Teaching, Parables, Miracles, Saints and Apostles, and Other Notables). For example, selecting the parables grouping provides a listing of Jesus 32 most recognized parables from which you could then select any one for reading.
* Two Search Types Available: A search box (found on all main pages) provides for two types of searches of the Gospels. If a bible verse is entered (e.g, Luke 5:7-20) the passage is returned. If text is entered (e.g., Mary Magdalene) each event containing a match found in either the scriptures, notes, or citations is listed by event. The user can then touch any of the event headings to see the full text of that event with all matching words highlighted.
* No Internet connection is required for use. All Gospels scripture text and notes are included within the app upon download.
