Element is a Linux-based operating system for media-center personal computers, designed to be connected to your HDTV for a digital media and Internet experience within the comforts of your own living room or entertainment area. Element comes preloaded with dozens of applications that will allow you to listen to, view, and manage your music, videos, photos, and internet media. We've aimed to make our system simple and intuitive while at the same time not sacrificing aesthetics or more advanced configuration options found on a typical desktop computer. This balance of features and customization presents the end-user with a comfortable multimedia and internet experience they will pick up and understand the essentials of in minutes.<br /><br />Element is based on and shares a development relationship with the popular Ubuntu Linux, which in contrast is developed primarily for home-office pc use. With this in mind close attention has been paid to moving our system out of the office/desktop environment and into the living room, by creating an operating system designed primarily for internet-entertainment and multimedia purposes.<br /><br />Being one of many open-source operating systems based on Linux we have placed a strong emphasis on 'Being Not Just Another Linux Distribution'.
