KaufKauf Slim Linux 2.5

KaufKauf Slim Linux is a Linux-based operating system that can be used with a Panel-PC, that is fully configured for the KaufKauf Shoppingmanager but can be used for other applications too.<br /><br />The KaufKauf Shoppingmanager Java application is designed in a way so that it can be used by a Panel-PC too. That means a small PC without any keyboard but with a touchscreen can be used without any problems as KaufKauf terminal. Such a terminal for an example can be mounted directly within the kitchen.<br /><br />To install and use KaufKauf Slim Linux following steps are necessary:<br /><br />- Download it<br />- Create a bootable ext3 partition with a size of at least 500 MB on a flash device (e.g. CF flash card)<br />- Unpack kkslimlinux.tar.bz2 to that partition<br />- Make a chroot into that new partition and mount /proc<br />- Execute grub-install to install the Grub bootloader<br />- Leave the chroot-jail, umount the flash and put it into the target device<br /><br />Now your KaufKauf Slim Linux should boot from the desired system and should auto-detect the hardware components of it.<br /><br />The base configuration:<br /><br />- eth0 is set up as 192.168.1.104 (DNS 192.168.1.1, Gateway 192.168.1.1)<br />- The root-password is "kaufkauf"<br />- Gnome logs in the user "login" automatically (password: "login")<br />- Filesystem is ext3, / is mounted with the flags "sync"<br /><br />The standard RPM packages this system is based on can be downloaded here for further modifications on that system.
