A couple of shell scripts to build and install ROX Desktop (http://roscidus.com/) for Debian or Ubuntu. Run them in a terminal like this: ./rox-debian-packages.bash ./rox-ubuntu-packages.bash Then log out, change session to ROX and log in to your new desktop environment. Get some more apps (http://gtk-apps.org/content/show.php?content=134111) and start experimenting. ROX apps are packed into application directories (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_directory) that you can freely move around in your home directory or put them on a usb key. They are launched from ROX-Filer, the ROX file manager. You either click on the application directory or drag a file onto it. True ROX apps do not open files through File/Open.
