unformat microid ("Microid" in short) is a mac OSX native app that makes it easier to work with texts from different sources. The app functions as a step between the copy and paste actions of the user, stripping the stuff in the pasteboard from everything except plain text.<br /><br /> <br />Usage<br /><br />Using the app is fairly easy. You just:<br /><br /> Copy (Cmnd - C) text from document/website/editor x.<br /> Click the icon, choose "Unformat".<br /> Paste (Cmnd - V) into another document/website/editor y.<br /> Presto!<br /><br /> <br />One trick pony<br /><br />Ever since I made the unformat widget I've been looking for ways to make unformat a more active part of your OSX. From the start I knew the next step would be a full-on app, tiny as could be with a whole lot of firing power! With Microid, that step has been taken and man, was that a huge step! Unformat Microid is as fiery as its big (or well... heavy) brother, but has some more to offer!<br /><br /> <br /><br />*The reason this app took so long was all the other projects I've been working on, trying to figure out my vision for the app and my new job.*<br /><br /> <br />Features, features, feastures!<br /><br />First things first. Before going over the features...<br /><br />Microid has a very cool thing at the core: an automatic update system. This makes it possible for me to actively develop it and push the update to everyone. You then get the choice to either download it, be reminded later or skip that version completely. I made up this page too fast while I was into the app too much) Every mac OS I know has it. But I'm afraid this app only works on 10.6+ It uses the intel structure x86_64, so any non-intel OSes are not supported. I will check what it takes to make it work there too., maybe future releases will support lower Mac OSX.<br /> <br /> ?*??a*???N*N*????a*?*O?N* 4 months ago<br /> Status menu? Is that a MacIntel thing? Can't go there, as much of our hardware won't run on Leopard... if Apple hadn't starting ripping out support for things in Tiger, and then Leopard, upgrading might have been possible.<br /> I was about to mention that a small icon in the menubar might be a good way to implement this, or possibly using cmd-shift-C or ctrl-cmd-c to copy text that would automatically put it in the clipboard unformatted. Such a function them might have Apple (if they'd get their collective heads out) add it to the system.
