Flag Friend aims to be a lightweight friending module utilizing the excellent Flag module's API.Flag Friend 1.x implements a default "friend" flag and is limited to one type of relationship.Flag Friend 2.x branch will support an arbitrary number of user relationships.Flag Friend 1.xInstallation Instructions * Download the module and place in your /sites/all/modules or wherever you kids are installing your contrib modules these days. * Go to /admin/build/modules and enable Flag and Flag Friend in the "Flags" category/fieldset. * Go to /admin/build/flags and enable the 'friend' flag. * Some default values are entered for you in this flag's configuration. Feel free to modify what is available. * If you have Views installed, you should see a new tab when you go to your /user/N page titled 'Friends'. Underneath you will have two sub-tabs titled 'Flagged' and 'Pending'. Feel free to modify these views as you see fit, but I wouldn't mess too much with the arguments and/or relationships unless you really know what you are doing. o Friends lists your current friend relationships. o Flagged lists other users you have flagged and are awaiting a response from. o Pending lists other users that have flagged you are are awaiting your response.Depends on: Flag 6.x-1.x but will also work with 6.x-2.xSupport for: Activity2, Popups API, Token, Views2, Advanced Profile Kit, Chaos ToolsSee this issue to help get ModalFrame support: #876456: Popups API module deprecated, change to using ModalFrameThere is also a sub-module included for access control called Flag Friend Access.Other modules that support Flag Friend functionality: Activity and Heartbeat.Flag Friend 2.xNote that Flag Friend 2.x is not ready for production use. Mail notification and flag_friend_access modules are not yet ported, and there could be bugs, babies eaten etc. Please install it if you want to help with development by providing bug reports, feature requests and simple ideas.Flag Friend 2.x is slightly different from 1.x branch: * You are not locked into single "friend" flag. * You can turn any user flag into a friend flag by setting it's link type to "Relationship confirmation form" * All texts (links, descriptions, messages, etc) are customizable per-flag, which means you can use Flag Friend module literally for any symmetric user-user relationship that requires a confirmation from both parties. * Because there can be arbitrary "friend flags", we can't provide UI (i.e. views) that works out of the box. Default view is provided with "friend" flag support to allow smooth upgrade path from 1.x branch, but you are encouraged to clone and tweak this view to match your new friend flags (i.e. relationships). Installation Instructions * Install all required modules. Note: if you use Flag 1.x you need to upgrade it to 2.x branch before installing/upgrading Flag Friend 2.x. * Install module as usual. When upgrading from 1.x branch make sure to backup your DB and then run update.php * Go to /admin/build/flags and set up flags to serve as relationships. When upgrading from 1.x branch, also revise 'friend' flag properties. * Configure default "friends" view. Make sure that the view is using a proper flag.
