European VAT Validator 1.0

The European VAT Validator allows you to validate a European VAT number and, if supported by the member state, verify the companies name and address.

European VAT Validator runs as a small icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen. To validate a VAT number simply select the country, enter the VAT number and press return. Within seconds you will be told if the VAT number is valid or not.

Some member states do not disclose the company name and address in which case you will just be notified as to whether the VAT number is valid or not.

The company name and address can be copied to the clipboard for use in other applications.

European VAT Validator uses the official VIES VAT Validation service provided by the European commission which in turn validates the number against the VAT database of the selected member state.

PLEASE NOTE

Some member state databases have a small period of un-availability at which point you will see a 'Service Unavailable' message. If this happens simply try again a little later.

VERSION 1.1

A new version of European VAT Validator has been submitted:

- Improved user messages for when the member state is down
- Consultation ID enabling you to prove that you checked a company had a valid VAT number.
