You had us confused with software from Tenable. They have since stopped using the name NEWT and we now have a trademark on it. So your post from over 2 years ago is in error. Please give us a try though!

I ran a test install of this and did a scan. It didn't find anything, but then the machine is run pretty clean. However I noticed that NEWT runs a background process newtd.exe (I think it was), that was hogging 20K of memory. This process does not show up in Mike Lin's great Startup Control Panel, so there is no easy way to stop it. Even when logged in as the Administrator I could not remove the process. I tried to un-install NEWT which did not have an un-install rountine. In Windows Add/Remove programs section, the program is listed but a removal falls over. So I resorted to a manual delete of all files, and a troll through the registry looking for any keys that referenced Tenable or NEWT. Now it is nearly gone from my Machine. It is not good enough to produce software that does not have an effect un-install process, or the ability for administrators to remove the process from the current task list. So while the upfront feature set is good, I would be wary of the backend processes.
