yEdit is a simple text editor with frequent auto-backups and a target word counter.

This application features a countdown word counter that can help you reach a wordcount target. For example, you put in 1500 as the starting count then start writing until you hit 0.

And since the software automatically creates backups, you will not even need to worry that you might lose your work.
